Curriculum Framework

North Adelaide Primary School curriculum includes all those activities devised by the school for the educational advancement of its children and is based on the following areas of study:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science / Technology
  • Health Education, Personal Development and Physical Education
  • History
  • The Arts
  • Instrumental Music: For students in Years R-6, Tuition from DECD teachers or private tutors
  • LOTE [Languages other than English]: Chinese. The Chinese program is supported by a school based specialist teacher.

These programs are based on guidelines provided by the Department of Education and Children’s Development. [DECD), and is based on the ACARA and South Australian Curriculum and Student Assessment Framework Curriculum (SACSA). Responsibility for curriculum rests with the school staff who work as a team within these guidelines.

The schools’ policies allow individual teachers to vary their methods and allows for your child to progress at his/her own rate. Every effort is made to provide continuity within the school.

It is the responsibility of all teachers to ensure that the principles of equity and social justice pervade the total curriculum so that all groups of children who participate in the schooling process can achieve equal educational outcomes.
